Bhramari Pranayama Yoga Techniques

Pranayama has many advantages and depending on the intensity of his ailment, a person who does regular Pranayama is sure to yield positive and good results from first day. However, to get complete benefits of this yoga, one week to nine months is the stipulated time. Pranayama helps in curing and removing many chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, bronchitis, insomnia, blockage in arteries, H.B.P, cancer, cirrhosis ho the liver, luecoderma, Parkinson and depression etc. Apart from these, there are many health changes such as clearing up of respiratory troubles, vanishing of joint pain, face becoming calm, bright and luminous, retarding the process of aging, minimization of falling or premature greying hair, diminution of eyesight etc. Pranayama also improves digestive system, memory, allergies, migraines, diseases pertaining to high blood pressure and kidneys, psychological dysfunction in both genders etc.

Bhramari Pranayama also known as Nasal Snoring is different and more difficult compared to mouth snoring. This technique is beneficial to expecting women to prepare them for labour. The vibrations of the soft palate are caused entirely by air flowing in and out through the nostrils unlike in mouth snoring. The lips remain closed in Bhramari. Before practicing Bhramari, it’s better to start with practice of snoring through mouth which develops some voluntary control over the vibration process of the palate, in turn developing the approach control gradually. Once you are well practiced in mouth snoring, you will be able to practice Bhramari with ease.

The soft palate should be lifted sufficiently toward the top of the pharynx in order to produce flutter which is often quite hard to control. The sound that is produced is commonly described as quite similar to the buzzing sound of a bee. In Bhramari, you breathe in and out through both the nostrils, producing a buzzing, snoring, or humming sound in both directions. The sound your inhale and exhale produce may be different: inhaling produces a higher pitched sound than exhaling that produces a lower pitch sound. Bhramari involves rapid inhalation producing a high pitched humming sound somewhat like the sound of a male bee and slow exhalation producing a low humming sound which is like the sound of a female bee.
