Health benefits of pranayama are present within the human control system. There is no need of particular treatment of medicine or regular visit to doctors. But you all by yourself can perform pranayama conveniently at home after gaining good understanding about pranayama benefits. Pranayama is divided into two parts. Prana + ayama. Prana means the process of inhale and exhale of breathing and ayama means a definite flow and method which is similar to a pose while doing exercise. By the process of breathing of air through the medium of inhale and exhale, the entire human body system which includes nervous system and brain system, there is intake of fresh oxygen by the practice of pranayama.

There is a particular rhythm and flow while practicing pranayama and this is considered as exact science with the fact that there is a regulation in the process of breathing which is natural and the entire respiratory system is cleaned and made fresh by the practice of pranayama.

The pranayama benefits are very good, but the place that you choose to practice pranayama should be absolutely clean, peaceful and there should be flow of fresh air. To gain more benefits, pranayama should be performed in the morning hours, preferably before the sun rise. The duration of pranayama should be very little in the beginning as human system may not be willing to accept rigorous practice of pranayama. There should be a gap of 3-4 hours after pranayama for intake of food.

The pranayama benefits will surely give good physical health and mental health. But one must fully understand about the practice of pranayama otherwise, pranayama benefits may not be received in complete. There should be proper guidance and teaching for learning the perfect doing of pranayama and once conversant with the practice one can easily derive pranayama benefits.

Cure diabetes with pranayama is the latest mantra and many women who seek relief from diabetes are opting pranayama. There are side effects with pranayama and there are good results with the practice of pranayama. Diabetes has become a common problem for many women and it is important to check the levels of sugar in the body and there are many systems to be followed as per the advice of doctors.

In the recent years, pranayama which is a yoga exercise with certain yoga poses has been a good remedy for curing diabetes. There are no hard and fast rules, but once you are determined to cure diabetes by the practice of pranayama, you are half-way through to the success. It is true that pranayama health benefits are slow but the results are sure and certain. Women who are suffering from obesity due to lack of exercise or who develop diabetes in the middle age, can find relief from pranayama.

You will definitely get a doubt how pranayama can cure diabetes. Actually, pranayama reduces sugar levels in the body. There are many breathing techniques in pranayama which control and cure diabetes. By regular practice of pranayama, weight, blood pressure and sugar levels are reduced in the body. Further, the symptoms of diabetes will slowly reduce to a great extent.

The regular practice of bhasrika and bhramari pranayama can bring lot of pranayama health benefits by increasing the oxyzen levels in the blood and by reducing carbondioxide levels in the blood. Further pranayama health benefits will improve by the practice of deep breathing and this should be learnt on a slow pace. Care must be taken before beginning the practice of pranayama as this involves lot of time and attention, this should be done under the guidance and training and a yoga professional.

The Bumble Bee Pranayama, goes also by the name of the Snoring Pranayama and Bhramari, uses the vibrations and sound of the humming bee in order to induce a deep relaxation to your mind – quite similar to the deep realm of sleep. Bhramari pranayama isn’t a beginner technique; it comes in a bit later when practicing the techniques of breathing regulation.

In the breathing regulation techniques, the Brahmari is supposed to help one remove all of ones negative and unwanted thoughts and feelings that could potentially lead in an unbalanced, unharmonious mentality. Having ones mind stabalized is the ultimate sign of great health. The Bhramari Pranayama is also commonly known as a snoring technique or pranayama, due to the belief that when one is in a deep sleep, ones mind is carefree and stress-less, and reintroduced to true innocence.

The sentiment is that a person is so carefree and relaxed that they snore.
This Brahmari technique is very similar to the snoring that is induced when a person is deep in relaxation or asleep. The sound is very similar to that of a bumble bee. These sounds are supposed to send out positive vibrations. While there are some variations, the most widely accepted way of doing this technique is as follows. Bring your soft palate of the oral opening as close as possible to your throat and mimic the sound of a bumble bee my humming. It is said that these vibrations are supposed to have a lot of positive authority on a person’s mind and even the physical brain.

If you can master this Brahmari technique, the effects can be phenomenal. Most of the more sought after effects (after quite a bit of practice, of course), are ease of mind, more focused concentration, fewer headaches and migraines, and les fickleness. If you’d like to take it even further, with more practice, you can even go into a deep state of meditation.

But remember, these sorts of things cannot just be jumped into. Not only is the Brahmari Pranayama a more advanced breathing technique, any sort of yoga pose and breathing technique should be supervised under a certified instructor only after clearance from you doctor. These things should not be taken lightly, and your doctor’s advice and teacher’s instructions should always be followed in regards to yoga!

If you have asthma, you don’t need me to describe it for you. It can be stressful. But it doesn’t have to be. You may not have known before, but yoga can be a safe remedy for people who suffer from asthma. Yoga has really become a huge part of cures for various human ailments. You can add asthma to a long list of problems yoga can fix. Yoga has many specialized breathing techniques that can help with asthma. The two most popular of those techniques being the Anuloma Viloma and Kapalabhati, both of which use a combination of both shallow and deep breaths. This triggers your body to use a more healthy rhythm when breathing, which would even continue while you slept.

These breathing techniques are very commonly combined with such yoga postures as the Pada Hasthasana, Ujjayi, and Suryabheda, all of which only furthers to help your body re-achieve its natural inner harmony that is required for a fully functioning and healthy system. These poses are relatively easy, and can be compared to the ease of such poses as the Salutation of the Sun, Simple Shoulder Lifts. (Those poses can also be very complementary to breathing techniques).

But remember, they’re only beneficial if you do them correctly. You cannot just learn these from a book or video.

You MUST consult a certified yoga instructor before beginning any sort of yoga-related regime. A certified instructor will be the only person who can give you advice on which poses would be best for you, and exactly how you do the poses and control your breathing. You must also consult a doctor before you begin, as there are some health risks involved.

And please be sensible – if your doctor and yoga instructor gives you the go ahead for a routine, do NOT stop taking your medication just because you feel better. You must wait for your doctor to take you off of whatever asthma-related medicines you’re on. Keeping that in mind, yoga usually cures asthma in as little as a week, though you still have to practice yoga daily for at least twenty minutes. This ensures that your symptoms will not return.

You should also watch what you eat. As shocking as it might be for many asthma sufferers, your grain and fiber intake could be agitating your asthma. You should also stay away from the usual things like dust, humidity, stress, and anxiety. Eventually you will be able to quit your medication, and once yoga has healed your asthma, you will even be able to tolerate supposed triggers. Just remember, you must keep at yoga, even after you are cured.

The procedure is, in brief, the act of forcefully pushing the air out of your lungs to the point of your stomach being sucked in. You should breathe in normally and breathe out with incredible force, to the extent that it should affect your abdominal area. If you have any sort of chronic disease, you should practice for fifteen minutes a day at your own pace.

While doing this, try to think of your forceful exhale as the exhalation of all the negative aspects of yourself. If you are sick, picture your sickness being forced from your body. If you suffer from anger issues or greed, anything of the sort, picture that being pushed out with ever breath. When you do this, you will find that you feel much more at peace with yourself, as well as those around you.

For your duration, test this technique out by only doing it thirty time, or one minute. (Over the course of time, you can increase this to a maximum of ten minutes). If you wish to incorporate this into your daily life, try to do this technique for three minutes every exercise session. If this goes well, increase it to five minutes. You will probably feel pretty tired in between your Kapal Bhati Prayanama practices, so take plenty of breaks. Do not hurt yourself. After a couple of months, five minutes should be easy and cause you no fatigue. Anyone with excess bile issues should not do this for more than 2 minutes at a time during the summer!

There are vast amounts of benefits connected to this technique. You will see an improvement in your complexion, which is always a plus. Most lung problems (such as asthma, allergies, and sinus issues) will go away completely. Some people have even experienced ailments of the heart and brain disappearing. Naturally, as with many types of yoga, obesity and various uncomfortable stomach problems (gas and constipation) will disappear! Ailments due to diabetes, such as high blood sugar, will go away almost entirely. You will find that you are overall happier and calmer. Plus, because of the stimulation of this exercise, many of your abdominal organs can develop immunities to diseases.

Whether you believe in the power of self-healing or not, this is most definitely an exercise to try. It’s a quick and relatively easy exercise that you can do just about anywhere. The results are wonderful, whether you’re going for the prosthetic changes or health boosts!

The study of a group of high school students over three months by Dr. Anand Shetty of Hampton University established the effectiveness of Pranayama in weight loss. Often we get so consumed with weight loss programs that we forget the most basic and important thing to do: breathe. Proper breathing can help us feel more calm and relaxed, invite in positive energy and exercise much more efficiently. The group studied by Dr Shetty were divided; one group practised pranayama: breathing techniques and yoga three to four times a week for forty minutes where they practised deep and quiet breathing. An average of six pounds was lost on an average and BMIs decreased by six percent of the students in this group. 30 minutes of pranayama and yoga which can be easily incorporated during leisure along with family members, for three to four times a week is recommended by Dr Shetty for losing weight and healthy living.

In Sanskrit, “Prana” means breath and life both; Chi, known as Prana in Indian culture is also called energy of life; hence breathing is very important to draw in as much of Prana as possible. This “breathing technique” or “control of breath” is called Pranayama and with this part of yoga tradition, maintenance of healthy weight is easily achieved. We all tend to breath quite shallowly, not utilising our entire lung capacity hence Pranayama should be started and continued gradually to get used to Prana in. Pranayama should be stopped the moment you faint or feel flushed.

Pranayama has numerous benefits on our emotional health apart from specific control on weight loss as it helps boost metabolism, utilize oxygen efficiently so that food is metabolised faster, regulate carbon dioxide’s release from the body so that fatigue is not experienced during exercise and removes toxins from body.

Depending on what is wished to be accomplished at that time, there are various breathing techniques. For example, abdominal breathing requires one to go for deep breathing using diaphragm whereas the dirgha (long) breath is done to expand capacity of lungs, bringing a higher level of oxygen to stream of blood. However, inhalation and exhalation should be done using your nose and care should be taken to maintain regular and fluid breath.

Yogis had discovered the nasal cycle around thousands of years ago which is discovered by Medical science recently. It was found out that breathing is not done equally on both nostrils: at one particular time it is easier to breathe through one nostril than the other; i.e. after every three hours, each nostril alternates. It was discovered by scientists that brain function corresponds with the nasal cycle. The left side of the brain controls logical verbal activity while right side controls creative activity; also on the side opposite to less congested nostril, greater electrical activity of the brain was found. The right side of the brain was found to be predominant when there was less obstruction in left nostril and vice versa.

Ancient yogis had discovered that disturbance in nasal cycle were mainly responsible for lot of diseases (or if a person breathe for too long through one nostril) and so the alternative nostril breathing technique was discovered to correct and prevent this condition. This technique establishes the natural nasal cycle again any clears any blockage of the airflow in nostrils. For example asthma is caused due to prolonged breathing through left nostril over a period of time and can be treated by teaching its patients the technique of alternative breathing. Similarly, diabetes is thought to be caused due to breathing through the right nostril mainly.
The Alternate Nostril Breathing Technique is also known as Anuloma Viloma and in this Breathing Technique, inhalation is done through one nostril, breath is retained and then exhaled through the next/other nostril in a ratio of 1:4:2. The left nostril is nadi’s (called Ida) path whereas right nostril is nadi called Pingala’s path. A healthy person will breathe predominantly for about one hour and fifty minutes through Ida nostril and then through the Pingala. As the natural rhythm in breathing is disturbed in many people, it is restored, balanced and equalized back by the Anuloma Viloma.

Steps of Anuloma Viloma (Alternative nostril breathing technique)
Six steps make up one round of Anuloma Viloma and are listed below:

•	Close the right nostril with the thumb and inhale through the left, counting up to four.
•	Close both nostrils, hold the breath and count up to sixteen
•	Close the left nostril with ring and little fingers, exhale through the right counting eight in the process
•	Close the left nostril with the ring and little fingers and inhale through the right one, counting up to four
•	Close both nostrils, hold the breath and count up to sixteen
•	Keep right nostril closed with the thumb, exhale through the left one while counting eight

The Anuloma Viloma exercise produces both sides of the brain to function optimally: optimum logical and verbal ability and optimal creativity both to make both sides of the brain function properly. According to yogis and modern scientists, this is the best technique to calm your mind as well as the nervous system.

Kundalini Yoga is a rather new form of Yoga popularised in the West by Yoga Bhajan in the late 60’s in his Healthy, Happy and Holy Foundation. Kundalini was earlier looked upon as something mystical and powerful and it was only due to the persistent efforts of Yogi Bhajan was this brought out to the mainstream public over the past coupled of decades.

Kundalini Yoga is performed to tap the untapped energy at the base of the Spinal chord called Kundalini Energy. The base target of every Kundalini Yoga exercise would to slowly life up tthe energy from the base of the spine to the crown of the head .This is said to be the peack position of the yoga form. Kundalini Yoga is represented as a coiled Snake at the base of spinal chord indicating its speed, power and potential to make or break lives.
Every Kundalini exercise focuses on one thing i.e putting stress on the lower body and relaxing the upper body so that there is a free transfer of Kundalini Energy upwards. As with most Yoga exercises, there are Pranayama techniques used for this and Kundalini poses may also require you to perform certain poses while doing your Yoga workout.

Kundalini Yoga is for those who have already completed a basic level of Yoga training and can be ready for both mental and physical strain. Due to other requirements such as breathing control, meditation and even diet control, Kundalini Yoga demands Mental toughness and while its effects are profound, it is suggested that beginners start up basic Pranayama techniques to get acquainted with the magical world of Pranayama Yoga before going in for Kundalini Yoga poses.
