When to start Yoga, before or After Weight Loss
There are many miss understanding amongst Yoga Practices beginners regarding, “what is the best time to start Yoga exercises, after weight Loss or before weight loss?” And that is the reason many people leave Yoga exercises on the half stage. Last Month we received so many questions regarding this topic only, so we managed to ask some question from our Yoga specialists and Gurus, and this is what they came up with, we hope that it will help you for sure.
Question: - I’m 38 years old working woman, and I’m 70 pounds overweight, and I have never joined Yoga or any other practices. I want to Join yoga classes, But my friends says that I have to lose my weight, and then only I will be able to do it properly, is that true? Please guide me. – Johanna
Answer: - The Most common problem every Yoga beginner faces is the over weight problem, and that aspect leads towards misunderstanding about when to start yoga. It is absolutely not like your friends are saying. Carrying extra weight always create certain problem while you exercise and it could be extra painful and tough in the starting. Over weight will create certain problem like feeling pain in your joints, shoulder pain, back ache etc, but it is not impossible as well. If you carrying over weight than you have to go about yoga posses very carefully and slowly, and make sure you do not get yourself injured while making yoga poses.
The concept of “not doing yoga until you lose weight and get flexible” is absolutely wrong, because Yoga is meant for reducing you over weight and makes your body fit and flexible, but the whole scenario is based on the slow progress for those who are suffering from overweight. If we are already fit and toned, then why would anybody need to do yoga? So it is advisable that no matter what the situation is, you should always prefer implementing Yoga poses in your everyday’s workout, and even after or before weight loss, because it really doesn’t matter that much.
