Yoga as Recovery Aid
Yoga fitness is no longer a commodity of the young, flexible, and few who can actually pull off wearing spandex. Yoga, which is practically becoming synonymous with physical and mental wellbeing, has begun to make its way into the medical field as a supplement to physical and mental recovery programs.Yoga fitness may soon be more commonly known as Yoga healing. Now, yoga as a recovery aid may sound a little silly to skeptics, but many doctors from a variety of fields have seen its results time after time. There have been patients who have reported not having to take their medicine so much only just after a few weeks of yoga classes. Others said that they stopped their medicines completely.
(Of course, whether you’re interested in yoga as a recovery aid for yourself or a friend, remember to never ever stop taking your medications without permission from your doctor, even if you are feeling better, unless your doctor has told you otherwise)!
Yoga Medics, which is a medically based center for therapy that offers yoga, is leading the way in research for this commonly explored field. They offer yoga healing to those with varying medical conditions that would greatly benefit from the healing powers of yoga. The Michigan based center reports that they’ve experienced knee surgery, disabilities, and even brain trauma during its studies. Such things are compared to treatments, goals, and results of yoga.
The belief is that yoga is so powerful because it’s not just about building or stretching muscles. It goes so much deeper than that. It revitalizes a person’s mind and drastically decreases their amount of stress. Both things are crucial for someone who is healing up from any sort of injury, big or small.
However, Yoga Medics hopes that it will soon branch out from just physical ailments. The center plans to include programs for people with mental disorders such as alcoholism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHA, and ADD. It also plans to come out with something for people with mental disorders that show in forms of eating disorders.
Medical science and therapy will definitely benefit from the teachings of yoga, and the limitless amount of healing it provides.
